Each time the ego-led person attaches him or herself to some external form, that is, identifies with, merges its sense of being with, some element of the world, a new self, a false self, is created.
Every time the ego-led person, in an effort to enhance oneself, to fortify the inner perception of “I am not enough,” every time he or she allows one’s sense of identity to find undergirding in, for example, the opinion of others, new designer jeans, a house with the right curb appeal, that expensive car, an impressive retirement account, or any other psychological bolstering for the “Little Me,” a kind of reincarnation occurs. A new self, a false self, is created, and the true self is stifled, and laid to rest.
Most people will transition to the other side beset by this dysfunctional and pathological condition. And even in Summerland, if one has not accessed the true self, identification with external forms will continue; the egoic insanity, the self-delusion and mask-wearing, will carry right on in the midst of the stately gardens and singing birds.
